BOBO'S FAN CLUB PROUDLY PRESENTS...

For all my friends,
This is a second OZZY Adventure letter!
Hope you all liked the first letter! My sister and I really enjoyed telling you all about life in Australia!
Today is the 9th of November, 2,000. I just came in from school and wanted to tell ya about what I read in today's newspaper.
On the front page there was an article about SNAKES...... eeks, don't be too worried!
During the winter months the weather gets to about 45 at night and 60 during the day,
it is now nearly summer and the temps are about 60-85 degrees. In the winter, snakes hibernate and are not noticed to often,
but in the warmer months they are more noticed and are seen in back yards, work sheds, in long grass and along rail way lines.
When the sun comes out so do snakes and they can be deadly!!!!!!!!!!
The city council has had about 20 phone calls from residents in the past five weeks.
In the summer months the council normally gets 130 calls about snakes in yards.
Large snakes were seen along rivers, creeks, railways, and back yards.
Many new homes are being built in fields, and new estates are being developed and now the snakes have no where to go so,
they go into back yards seeing that the previous summer the homes were not there and now, they remember this place as their former home.
There was a snake captured in a suburb, about 10 minutes from my home. The snake was reported to be quite vicious,
because it just came out of hibernation. The snake that was captured in kealba, was a brown snake and in a woman's backyard. The woman called the council and 10 minutes later, a snake catcher arrived at her home and captured the snake. SOUNDS LIKE CROCKADILE DUNDEE DOESN'T IT!!!!
If you see a snake, 1-stay calm; 2-phone the council and they will get a snake catcher to your home, immediately! 3-watch the snake, but don't touch it.
Brown snakes and Tiger snakes are the most common in our area. The Tiger snake has green and black stripes. The Brown snake is silvery-chocolate brown with a small head. Tiger snakes are afraid of people and try to get away from people. The brown snake is mean and real aggressive! If you approach a brown snake, he will most likely attack you!!!
The council release snakes, after capturing them because they are protected animals. If you are bitten by a snake, the wound should be left unwashed and you should put pressure on the wound, and get to the hospital fast!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Every one was asked to mow their grass short, to keep snakes away, and not to cross fields in hot sunny weather. I will try to send you some photos of snakes as soon as I can, but believe me, I am not gonna go out and take their pictures!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ha!!
The Sun is very hot in Australia and in summer months, wide brimmed hats are compulsory in all schools, along with the use of sunscreen. If a hat is not worn to school, children are not allowed outside during school hours and have to stay inside.
Hope to hear from you soon and I will write again in a few months. Again, from your Australian mates, Caressa and Spencer Paulin -
G'DAY MATES !
This photo was taken from the Grampian Mountains, we are standing on cliff tops, which have big drop offs. The Grampians are about 4 hours from our home, and have great views!!!!!!!!!
